Minecraft uses two different color palettes between golden armor/tools, and other gold-based textures

    • Textures and models

Golden armor and tools textures use a different palette when compared to all other gold-based textures, making them inconsistent, and visually different.

      Screenshots/Videos:

While the difference is not incredibly obvious at first glance in game, it is more noticable once the two palettes are directly compared.
As an example, here is a golden chestplate with the current color palette, and then swapped with the palette of raw gold:

And here is are golden armor and tools next to other gold items:

      Palettes:

The first palette is golden armor, second is golden tools, and third is raw gold.

The colors used for armor and tools is more muted, with green and brown hues when compared to raw gold. This same comparison can be achieved with the color palettes of other items besides raw gold.

      Notes:

      1. The intention of this report is not to point out slight differences in individual colors of the palette, or suggesting changes be made to the palette simply because I (or others) think those changes should be made, but instead how the current palette that is used is distinctly different and inconsistent to other item palettes used.
      2. The gold armor item and entity model textures both use different color palettes, despite being the same thing in different forms.
