We used to be able to make and change characters on Minecraft Switch, and now we get 5 greyed-out characters, and the create character button is greyed out, no option to edit characters. All sidebar options make no changes at all. We can't edit at all, and can't even switch to default characters.  This applies when playing BOTH offline AND online.

We have the same greyed-out dressing room screen, which I have seen uploaded multiple times for these multiple queries.  Additionally, the Marketplace is greyed out and we can't access that online or offline at any time
