When a world is created in 1.8.1 it crashes a nearby chunk causing it to spam a bunch of random, repeated textures even though it acts as the world is still fine concerning the interaction with it. Blocks can be broken and placed and doing so causes the world to look correct for a moment, then it goes back to spamming patterned textures. The same world loaded into 1.8 runs perfectly fine, and once the world loaded into 1.8 or earlier and reloaded into 1.8.1 it runs fine.
