The Bug
Iron golems, when attacking a player who provoked them, can randomly stop attacking them after some time for seemingly no reason. However, as soon as the player moves, the hostile golem will attack them again.
It would be expected that the golem would attack the player consistently until they get out of view/reach (or they can become neutral after some time).
How to Reproduce
- Give yourself a high Resistance effect using /effect give @s minecraft:resistance infinite 5 true.
- Spawn an iron golem and then attack it in Survival mode.
- Don't move while the golem keeps attacking you.
- After some time (usually around 20 seconds, but it can take up to 1 minute), the golem will stop attacking and stare at you (while in this state, punching the golem will not aggravate it on you either).
- If you move even a bit, the golem will suddenly get aggressive and continue attacking.
