In the end with droppers placed between 243, 5, -6 and 247, 5, 6 with blocks on top and redstone on the blocks.

Droppers when activated in the environment described (both on servers and singleplayer) have a very low chance of actually working. It seems it has something to do with odd or even redstone power values because when I switched it up with two levers right next to eachother, after two flicks, the droppers that work and that don't, switch.
