Despite preventing hostile monsters from targeting players in the first place, the invisibility effect does not cause monsters to stop attacking the player, even from great distances, unless the player exits the mob's detection range altogether. For monsters with extremely high detection ranges, like zombies, this can produce the somewhat incredulous behavior of a mob accurately pinpointing the location of a creature it can't even see from half a mile away. For "horde" monsters like zombified piglins, this can lead to dozens of monsters swarming a creature that only one of them should even be aware of, with incredible precision, from literally any distance. To say nothing of mobs that use bows or crossbows.
