This may be considered a feature request, however the fixing of MC-170833 and MC-214684 and the non-invalid wontfix resolution of MC-182822 make this seem less likely.

Neither small nor big dripleaf plants can't be placed inside of flower pots. (While the small dripleaf may not be conventionally placeable inside due to requiring clay, the same holds for cactus due to requiring sand.)
