Thought that I would tell you that last night when I read playing the new update, exploring the neither with my friend, I jumped into a pool of lava with no armour. When I respawned, I had the fire effect on my uni, and when I went into water it made the sizzling sound. I wasn't taking damage though. My friend then punched me to death and when I respawned I was all good.

I can't quite remember what nether biome I died in, but my respawn is in one of those snowy mountains areas.
