In creative mode, when trying to switch items in your hotbar with the number keys, and you switch a milk bucket, drinking the milk bucket in either creative or survival has no effect.

Test by giving yourself a random effect that is noticeable in creative mode (Blindness is what I used), switch a milk bucket and another item with the number keys, and try and drink the milk. Nothing will happen.
