If you have a parrot on your shoulder and you jump, it immediately dismounts from your shoulder. This is true even of auto-jumping, meaning you can't walk around any normal terrain, with any settings, without losing your parrot. It also means that, contrary to the change log's description, parrots can't fly with you because you can't even jump to engage your elytra without losing them.
