When I was trying to join a Minecraft multiplayer game, it would start to load up the game

But when I get into the server, less than a second later, the game crashes, and sends me back to the minecraft launcher, showing an error.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open minecraft
2. Launch game
3. Click multiplayer, direct connect
4. Put in IP and join,
5. Crashes, and sends back to launcher.
