When I was mining in a cave, I wanted to drop down several blocks, went to place the water bucket right before I hit, I watch the water disappear and go back into my bucket, that being the game changed its mind on placing water there. Not sure if this is supposedly supposed to be an update to the game, but it being a mechanism in Minecraft for so long, I'm sure the majority would want to be able to survive falls from a water bucket.
