Updated to 1.1.0 in early June hoping to resolve inventory deletion issues (no luck), and now minecraft is crashing much more often. Sometimes it will save progress but more often I lose a half hour or more of progress when it crashes. No fun playing if I have to pause, save & quit, and reload the world every 5-10 minutes to keep my progress!

I'll give mojang the benefit of the doubt and blame the crashing on my older phone, but the inconsistent auto-saving is very frustrating - I don't see why my progress is saved sometimes and not others.
