Previously commented 03/Oct/24 4:47 PM under someone which seemed to have experienced the same issue, but did not provide enough information. As it seems like the tracked issue got closed creating an new issue for it. I am unsure what is the correct information for the field "Affects Version/s" however below is the information as I posted it previously:

Just experienced the bug and did my best to immediately note down what I experienced and tried to test as much as possible I thought could be relevant information. As I don't know the backend stuff I will provide rather more information than less as that usually preferred in bug squashing.
System: Playstation 5 (Playstation 4 Edition) PS OS on latest version as of writing

Patch: Latest patch as of 15:00 03.oct 2024 UTC +1 (no experimental version)
Survival Mode (Played split screen at the time locally). Local world no realm or multiplayer.
      Dont know how to reproduce.

The corrupted item slot was the second from top left in the main inventory.

With the hindsight of exiting and re-loading the character/world I now know that the "corrupted" inventory space contained and invisible shulker box (full of 64'stackable items). The slot appeared visually as it was empty and as one of my theories was that it was hiding an invisible item there I did try to move and remove the item from the spot even if I did not see it to see if anything happened or it would resolve the issue. However the item in the spot during the bug was not interactable.

Most detail I am able to recollect of the game state when the bug occurred:
      "Tic-activity": low.
"2d items on the ground": low
What  I think happened during the bug was that I was moving a shulker box around in my inventory however I noticed the bug after it occurred (1-2min after) so the exact instance might be slightly inaccurate. I do not remember if I placed it manually or if I used the quick move shortcut on playstation (triangle). As I am not 100% sure that it was during moving the item with the inventory open and it is an possibility that I picked up the shulker box from the ground with an full hot bar and with the first inventory space in main inventory full however I feel like I remembering moving it. Edit: I am actually the farm was turned of at the moment of the bug occurred. I was in an area with a piston based bamboo farm (hopper clock based not observer based). I do not suspect it being an tick overflow as the game to my best recollection was not experiencing any of those symptoms at the time. The other player in local split screen was in another area with low impact activity within their simulation distance). I did not have anything in the off-hand and had not used the off hand at all that game session.

Things I experienced while testing things after the bug had occurred:
All observations here is done with the corrupted slot as the "next available" slot in slot priority, but with multiple other empty slots available.

      • Items could not be placed at the inventory spot. When trying to manually placing items at the spot there was no visual indication of anything happened and the item remained in the "cursor". If I tried to move items from the main bar or other chest containers using the quick move shortcut when the item slot was the next available slot, they visually appeared as they got moved for a really short period (longer than a game tick but significantly shorter than a second) (so short that the item icon only was visible at the spot without the stackable item count text loading in) and then instantly moved back to the the original spot.
      • If I tried to craft items using either crafting bench or recipe book without crafting bench when the item spot was the next available slot for the result the components was for a short duration consumed, and the visual icon of the crafter result appeared at the corrupted slot for a really short period (same duration as above) and again  no stackable item text appeared. And then the components was returned and the item crafting was reversed so to speak. So interestingly it was not similar to how if you craft items with an full invent the item result was not kept in the cursor. Hard for me to speculate as I do not know if you use pre-loading UI of item icons and it just reverted the UI when the process was invalid.
      • I could pick up items from the ground and then the next available item slot after the corrupted item slot was used.
      • I different things to potentially "reload/reset" the inventory like opening different containers, opening closing inventory repeatedly and move between recipe book tabs, and as mentioned above tried to move the invisible item in the corrupted slot away from the slot with manual move and quick move.
      • I tried moving to a simulation distance with no redstone.
      • I tried to move to the nether and the corrupted slot was still corrupted there and when I moved back again from the nether.
      • As I tried multiple things and took notes on my phone it persisted for 15min and seemed to to be resolvable with time either.

What resolved the bug was exiting the world and reloading it with the character revealing the corrupted slot to contain a shulker box which now was visible and the slot was again as normal.

I hope this helps as a start off point for an ticket, and please feel free to ask for more questions.
