Basically I was removing a large area all the way down to bedrock with the /fill command and there was some water left over so I went over with some sponges just to get rid of it and then I continued working on my project. Once I reopening the world the last few bits of water (I had removed them but they came back) were glitched out (water slivers and no flowing) and some of the sponges I had placed then destroyed not all of them though. I tried a few things like leaving the sponges where the water was and not deleting them. That did get rid of the water but the sponges still won't leave. I also tried removing them with the /fill command and they still came back
I've been ignoring this issue for awhile but figured I'd retry it with the 1.21 preview being released but it still won't work
There's no issues while breaking the blocks. No other blocks in this world have this issue of staying after breaking or not being there after being placed.
There are very few entities and 0 lag so I doubt it has anything to do with that, but it takes longer to start up the world if I'm near the ghost sponges.
I do have a huge border of barrier blocks and i dont know how that'd affect this feel free to correct me though
Quick note: I cut out part of the loading time and had to decrease the video quality a lot so it'd be small enough to upload
