it is impossible to continuously move and down in water without switching where fingers are touching on the screen
Please let players have a choice whether or not using the new control buttons
Additional information from this comment:
Steps:
- Go into any body of water where player sinks down at least 3 blocks or more - to switch controls to “swim” mode.
- Press the up arrow button on the right side to swim up.
- Continue holding down the “up” button to tread water above water line (see attached video SinkingNotSwimming)
Expected behavior:
- Player bobs above water and can breathe.
Observed behavior:
- Player starts sinking under water despite finger not having moved away from up button.
In video SinkingNotSwimming, you might be able to see that I’m touching the Up swim arrow. You can see the arrow highlight before it immediately un-highlights and I sink. In fact, I’m actually using 3 digits here. Left thumb on left direction arrows for direction, right thumb to try to stay above water, right index finger to swivel my view and look for my boat. Although you can’t tell, my thumbs never leave position.
Lastly, I attached a video, SortOfSwimmingAboveWater, where I did manage to keep my head above water while moving forward. It was a tricky 3 finger combo move that involved me keeping all fingers pressed down in the direction I wanted to go.
I had times where I was being attacked while trying to swim above water. The 3 finger attack combo meant I could either swim or attack, but not both at the same time.
