I am trying to play this game with a family member on the same LAN (same subnet, same wireless SSID).    We both receive the error unable to connect to world while trying to join the other's game.   Both of us are able to connect to games outside of our network.  Both of us are able to have people outside of our network connect to our games.

      • Person 2:   Windows 11

Both of us are successfully connected to our Microsoft accounts.  I have tried with the Windows Firewall disabled.  We have both tried logging out of out Microsoft accounts and back in.   We have both tried closing the application / program and rebooting.  We have both tried reinstalling the application.  Network isolation is not enabled on the networking devices.    Ubiquiti ecosystem.     tried with and without piHoles blocking some DNS traffic

The only thing I can think of is going through the Microsoft piece of the puzzle Minecraft doesn't know how to handle us being on the same public IP behind a NAT.    Is there a way I can trick the game into connecting ( IP / Port forwarding?   DNS redirect?    something else? )

It has been a number of years,  but this used to work for us pre-pandemic.

      What are my options?

      Thanks

       Lars
