I am not sure if this bug is just for cats or if it is for dogs as well. However, I noticed that if a cat is in water and you are far away from it, (say 100 blocks maybe) the cat will not teleport.

I was confused as I thought my cat had died but there was no death message saying that my cat had died. I swam back across the giant lake only to find my cat swimming right near the shore!
