When trying to download the world from realms the game says there isn't enough space and Minecraft prevents downloads until more space is free. My world is less than half a Gb and I have over 17Gb free space available. This makes it impossible to test things out in creative. Not to mention people who's realms expired can no longer access their worlds and therefore are forever stuck paying the renewal fee. Personally I'm going to continue renewing regardless however it's a bit messed up for other players.

PS it is in the latest update of Minecraft not sure if the one I listed is so.
