About the affected versions - I am not sure if it affects 1.16.220 but I strongly suspect that the Java dying sign parity of that version has to do with this.

When I place a sign down and either use § or a dye to color my sign, the sign color appears darker and does not glow. White text signs are affected so badly that they look like what grey should be. This could be solved by using a Glow Ink Sac on the sign, as is the case with the beta, but they are not present in this version, leaving us with sad, dark, unglowing signs.
