The bug
The new beta finally introduces the ability to specify block states in commands. The syntax resembles, but is incompatible with, Java's syntax, which was established in version 1.11 back in 2016 and has remained consistent ever since.
Java's syntax is [key=value], and the current beta syntax is ["key":"value"]. This introduces disparity for no reason.
How to reproduce
/setblock ~ ~ ~ wool[color=blue]
→ Syntax error
Expected result:
Blue wool is placed (until the flattening)
