Just updated launcher/game to 1.9.3.0 (tried repair also) and now after clicking play in the launcher you get:

• the logo movies
• screen reloads
• press any key
• pause with spinning cube
• blank dialog box with only an X to close (tried waiting a long time, nothing happens) so click X
• then spinning loading cube forever

Only way I've found to get out of the program is to alt+tab or alt+f4 to kill it.  It doesn't seem to respond to any input.
