OSX El Capitan version 10.11.2

Unconfirmed
In 1.9, if another player launches a game and opens to LAN, that game doesn't show up in the multiplayer menu under "Scanning for games on your local network". (We are using Minecraft on 4 computers with 5 separate accounts. The problem only exists on 2 of the computers. The other 2 computers behave normally. All 4 are Macs running El Capitan.)
What I expected to happen was...:
When one player launches a game and opens to LAN, the game normally appears in the multiplayer menu of other local players using different accounts under the title "Scanning for games on your local network." This still works for 1.8.9 on the same machines, but does not work when you use 1.9.
What actually happened was...:
Nothing shows up in the multiplayer menu. It is possible to select "Direct Connect" in the multiplayer menu, enter the IP address of the local game, and enter the game that way. But still nothing is listed under "Scanning for games on local network." With 2 of the 4 computers, the behaviour is as expected and the games show up. With the other 2, they can host the game and be seen by the 2 correctly functioning computers, but not by each other. When the version is switched back to 1.8.9, all the 4 computers can host and detect LAN games as usual. This problem is specific to 1.9.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have another computer and user start a Minecraft 1.9 game.
2. Have the other user on the same local network "open to LAN".
3. Open in 1.9 on my computer (MacBook Air running OSX El Capitan), and go to Multiplayer. The computer scans, but nothing shows up on the list.
