I was testing out stuff on my world, when I noticed, that when I died, items also vanished, but you could still pick them up, I believe this is related to the entities vanishing when you die, on Minecraft 15w39b.

To do this:
1. Drop an item
2. Kill yourself by any means, whether it be /effect, /kill or whatever, do /spawnpoint near the item, to make it easier
3. After respawning, do /testfor @e[type=Item,r=10], near the item, if you don't know where it is, just do /testfor @e[type=Item]
4. /kill @e[type=Item]
5. Drop another item and kill yourself again
6. do the /testfor again, and verify it exists
7. ???
8. Profit?
