Compass shows spawn point changed after trip though Nether

What I expected to happen was...:
Spawn Point to show as 140, 63, 268

What actually happened was...:
After going to Nether, Followed compass to new spawn point showing as 7, 90, 7

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make compass
2. Put in quick list (What do you call it? the list of items you can go to quickly
3. Check number of spawn point
4. Build Nether Portal
5. Go to nether
6. travel about 100 squares and build another Portal
7. Return to Overworld through second portal
8. Now go back to nether, travel back 100 squares to original portal and return home.
Compass now reads different spawn point from original having nothing to do with where my bed is.
Compass NEVER points to bed
