my one friend and I were playing on a new sever of the latest snapshot and were experiencing some odd lag. at first it wasn't too bad, and seemed to only effect certain areas, say, every 10 or so blocks.

the trouble began when we found a village. it wasn't immediate, i had just began working on a cobblestone fence enclosure and my friend had went fishing very close by. suddenly he stopped responding in chat, and then he was killed by a zombie without even fighting back. he then crashed and tried to rejoin, 4 times unsuccessfully. he told me that it kept saying his connection had timed out. i was getting pretty bad lag myself, which was unusual, but didn't crash.

i tried restarting the server and i checked my internet connection. restarting didn't fix the problem and my connection was fine. now we can't play and don't know why and it's very sad.
