Running MC 1.4.6 from a friend's server (which I wish to keep private).

I attempted to enchant a book using two separate enchantment tables (see screenshots; between the third and fourth picture, two enchantments were attempted). The game recognizes that the item can be enchanted, but I receive no enchantments when I click on the level I want, and I still lose the XP. I can still enchant tools and armor per usual.

Server is completely vanilla to my knowledge. Admin did not indicate that he had messed with any settings.
