When under a block that has the dripping particle effects from water or lava being above it, the screen will act as if the player is submerged in what is on the block.

Create a 2-high hallway and lay water or lava on top for dripping particles, and stand under it.

This also happens with a 2-and-a-half-high hallway, as shown in the image.
