upon death, a player cannot be given or cleared of an item with the /give @a or /clear @a command

I have tested this thoroughly and it only doesn't work after the player has been killed. As long as the player hasn't died he/she can still be given items with /give @a. Restarting the server (if you are on one) or relogging fixes the problem until you die again. This bug is in both singleplayer and multiplayer. The /give @a command doesn't work with either command blocks or chat. Both /give @r and /give @p work. Another odd feature about this bug is that the items that are supposed to be given to you appear at the world spawnpoint. I have tested this and changing the world spawnpoint makes the items go to the new spawnpoint. The items are shot out of the spawnpoint as if they were thrown when you try to give them to a player. These are real items and can be picked up and used.
