When I'm in the boat and heading towards land, the boat breaks ten or more blocks away from land without having hit anything. This happened more than once so it couldn't be a one-time glitch.

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected my boat to slow down and then stop next to land.

What actually happened was...:
The boat broke without even being close to the land

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get into a boat
2. Boat into open water, load a new chunk
3. Turn around towards the nearest land mass
4. Head straight at land, slowing down as you get close
