The cover of the book on the enchantment table starts to flicker at about 16 blocks distance.
Tested with custom and default resourcepack on a vanilla .jar.
Out of curiosity I changed several video settings forth and back without changes.
It is kind of hard to capture the flickering but if you look closely the book cover shows white artifacts/stripes/etc.
Needs confirmation as it could be just my specific pc-setup.
