To reproduce:
1) Make sure you have no armor equipped
2) Put 1 used tool on your personal crafting box, like if you were to repair it by combining with another used tool.
3) Hover your mouse in different areas of the inventory popup, including the armor slots.
4) Depending where you hover they will go black, or grey.
