Strength potions prior to 1.6 added 1.5 hearts of attack damage per level.
In versions 1.6+, strength potions add 130% hearts of attack damage per level. This was not stated in the change-logs, therefore being unintentional. This new buff causes enchanted weapons to be extremely overpowered, and ruins Minecraft PvP for anyone who can brew strength potions.
