Every time I open my minecraft world to LAN, my partner is unable to join me, or even see my server on the LAN list (before we were able to see them, still couldn't join but stopped being able to see each others open LAN servers at some point, I don't know why)
We get the error "server is unreachable: getsockopt" every time. We feel like we have tried everything. Turning off our firewalls. Switching to private network on our wifi.
When we could still see each others LAN servers, we tried connecting directly by putting our ip address in the direct connection field / also trying that but with a colon ( and the port number, did not work (e.g. [ip number]:[port number])
We have both checked our firewalls and i allowed javaw.exe on my firewall, but we could not find javaw.exe on his firewall (he had installed java se 22). Might this be to do with him not having javaw.exe, and if so how could we fix that?
Please tell me if I am missing something obvious that would allow us to play on LAN without the getsockopt error?? I have seen a lot of people online saying that they are having the same kind of error on recent versions of java minecraft... Or, if this is actually a bug, please tell me/people when it is fixed.
We are frustrated about how complicated it is to just play LAN minecraft on java and just want to have fun.
Thank you
