The Frost Walker enchantment operates exclusively when applied to boots equipped in the foot slot. This contrasts with other enchantments such as Depth Strider, Aqua Infinity, Feather Falling, and Respiration, which can be utilized on various items across different armor slots, including unconventional ones like elytra, pumpkins, or heads (all types of heads/skulls). Through the use of an anvil, players can add Frost Walker to items other than boots as intended by MC-95555. However, it seems that enchantments introduced in version 1.9 and later are restricted to their designated items and armor slots unlike older enchantments. Applying the Frost Walker enchantment to leggings, chestplates, helmets, pumpkins, elytras, or skulls does not result in the creation of frosted ice when walking. This issue is related to MC-268935.
