I believe the snooper present since 21w38a is in violation of GDPR.

In the option "Telemetry Data" you give either "Minimal" or "All". In minimal you collect the following: User ID, Client ID, Minecraft Session ID, Game Version, Operating System, Platform, Client Modded, Event Timestamp (UTC), Opt-In, World Session ID, Server Modded, Server Type, Game Mode, Time Since Load. As there is no off option I found this rather odd especially as I reside in the UK which is subject to GDPR.

User ID is unique and is tied to your account which has your name, email and therefore it can be traced to you. In Article 4 of GDPR. "‘personal data’ means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly". Therefore User ID is personal data.

In article 21 of GDPR "The data subject shall have the right to object, on grounds relating to his or her particular situation, at any time to processing of personal data concerning him or her which is based on point (e) or (f) of Article 6"

You claim it was introduced to "to better understand our players and to improve their experience"[1]. Therefore I believe it qualifies as point e of of Article 6 of GDPR where "processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest". Therefore I should have the right to object to the collection of personal data.

If you mark this as a duplicate in which you claim your legal team has reviewed it, I would like to know how I do not have the right to object. Given mojang is owned by Microsoft which has been investigated before for violating GDPR. I would recommend you have an off option to not get a potential fine and make privacy concerned people more willing to buy the game.
