While in ANY gamemode, (I just tested it), while in F5 mode during a storm, which you can do by doing /weather thunder, once you get it in the right angle, the entire GUI of minecraft changes to darker shades like black and grey. Even if you "save and quit to title" it is still there, the only way to fix it is to manually go back on that world and get out of F5 mode back to First Person View.
