I wished to try out the demo of Minecraft for the Mac/PC on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display (yes, I was able to afford a decent set-up for this Mac) and after playing Minecraft's Xbox 360 Edition for over a year, I wanted a copy of Minecraft for my Mac to have with me wherever I go. But before I wanted to purchase it, I wanted to play the demo to make sure it works.

After downloading the appropriate update to Java and shutting off the warnings that initially prevented me from playing Minecraft on Safari and Firefox, I felt that would be sufficient for the browsers to play Minecraft online.

But when I go to play the demo, I get a notice from the server telling me that the game had crashed because it "Failed to start game."

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1) Run the latest Safari or Firefox browsers on a Mac with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4) installed
      2) When you reach the demo page, if the browsers need an additional plug-in for Java, download update for Java, after downloading Java updates through the Mac App Store.
      3) When privacy warnings are prompted, tell Java to not show those messages again. There will be two mode alerts.
      4) After all that, wait through the loading screen, it will go dark, and then the horrible error message will appear!
