Gameplay
The Bug:
The sounds of interacting with some entities aren't controlled by the "Players" sound slider.
Any action that is created through the player doing something that doesn't result in blocks being changed, is normally controlled by the "Players" sound slider. For example, the sounds of players milking cows, shearing sheep, and throwing tridents, are all controlled by the "Players" sound slider as they should be, because the player is producing these sounds and performing these actions.
Many sounds of interacting with entities aren't controlled by the "Players" sound slider and are instead controlled by other sound sliders. Below I've constructed a table that highlights these errors.
Sound | Current Assigned Sound Slider | Expected Assigned Sound Slider |
---|---|---|
Milking entities using buckets | Players | Players |
Shearing entities | Players | Players |
Applying dyes to sheep | Players | Players |
Milking entities using bowls | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Repairing iron golems | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Attaching saddles to entities | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Attaching horse armor to horses | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Attaching carpets to llamas | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Attaching chests to entities | Friendly Creatures | Players |
Using flint and steel on creepers | Hostile Creatures | Players |
Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the "Music & Sounds" settings menu.
- Turn the "Players" sound slider to "OFF".
- Turn every other sound slider to "100%".
- Exit this menu and produce any of the affected sounds as listed above that are not currently controlled by the "Players" sound slider.
- Take note as to whether or not many sounds of interacting with entities can be heard, (are controlled by other sound sliders instead of the "Players" sound slider).
Observed Behavior:
The sounds aren't controlled by the "Players" sound slider and are instead controlled by other sound sliders.
Expected Behavior:
All sounds of interacting with entities as listed above would be controlled by the "Players" sound slider. The reason why the affected sounds should be controlled by the "Players" sound slider is that the player is interacting with the entity and is the cause of the sound being produced, thus should be controlled by the "Players" sound slider.
