When you sleep in a new bed other than the one you have been sleeping in, it does not automatically take you back there if you die. You have to sleep in it a few times before you'll regenerate there when you die. Unfortunately, you don't go back to the other bed either. You go all the way back to the original spawn point. This is very annoying when you are located 2000 blocks away from that point, and have to spend 20 minutes just walking back there, when of course all your stuff is gone.
