This is a bug i found in Minecraft creative mode on a super flat world but I am not sure about survival mode. I was testing something and i partially blew up a village when i noticed that on the sides of the farms, there were some water sources except they weren't sources. the water went half way up a block and it spilled only 3 blocks unlike the usual 7 blocks. I am not sure whether this is deliberate because lava can sometimes do this or just bug.
