Speedrunners often use boats in combination with f5 (third-person view) to be able to see through the water without the water actually blocking the vision, kind of like x-ray but you see through the water instead of blocks. I'm not against speedrunners using this strat but I randomly found out that you don't need to be in third-person view to use this strat, in fact, you can actually do this in first-person which I don't think should be happening because if you have to use f5 to see through the water people can choose to not use it, however, if it can happen in first-person it might unintentionally happen as shown in the video attachment. It is were easy to re-create it, simply go to an ocean stay on the surface then sink down, for a split second you can see through the water as if it was air.
