I tried to catch some fish for a cat, but a bug just appeared.
Let me explain:

1. Join into your world (I created mine with KeepInventory true, no cheats and in survival mode)
2. Craft Fishing rod (I only tested it in survival mode),
3. Try to use it.

I expected float to appear, but uh... nothing happened. I can only hear sound. The texture doesn't change either, but if I get close to the block and try to use it, the durability actually decreases. Idk why. The bug started after some hours of gameplay, then I left my world, rejoined back after 2-3 days and crafted fishing rod immediately. Now I can't get my tasty fish for a cat D:

Also, no error messages appeared when this bug happened.
