The resource pack attached offers a complete fix for this issue. Mojang have my full permission to (and are encouraged to) replace the affected vanilla model files with the contents of the resource pack.

The bug
Stone and infested stone will randomly pick between a normal texture, a flipped texture, a 180-degree rotated texture and a simultaneously flipped and 180 degree rotated texture when such a block exists in the world to give a more natural appearance. Stone slabs, in both single and double form, are not subject to this however, making large sections of them appear repetitive.
How to reproduce
- Create a large flat region of stone
- Create a large flat region of infested stone
- Create a large flat region of stone slabs, single and/or double
Expected results
All three cases would have the textures be flipped and rotated.
Actual results
Stone and infested stone are randomized, but stone slabs appear unnaturally orderly.
How to fix
A resource pack is attached to this ticket that fixes this issue entirely. Both single and double slabs are fixed, and stacking slabs to create double slabs also works seamlessly.
