I found this bug in 1.16.1, and I'm not sure if it existed in previous versions, but it didn't fix in 1.16.2.
Here is the description of the bug:
Trigger needs:
1. A block where torches can be placed on a side (staircase can also trigger the bug)
2. Items that can be attached to the side of the block and can be destroyed with one blow (such as torch, candle, etc., after testing, the item display frame is an exception and cannot trigger the bug)
3. Survival mode
4.(Optional) Tools (manuscript, axe, etc.)
Trigger action:
(Take torches, stones for example)
1.Place the torch on one side of the stone
2. Break the torch
After repeating the above steps, the stone will gradually break and remain broken (eventually falling objects).
When the player repeats the above steps on another block (or presses the left mouse button on any block (to break)), the original block will return to its original state.
Tools can affect the rate at which blocks break.
For example, triggering a bug against a stone with hand is equivalent to indirectly damaging a stone with hand, while triggering a bug with a script can quickly cause the stone to break or even fall.
After testing, it was found that this bug was only equivalent to indirectly destroying blocks, and could not destroy non-destructive blocks such as bedrock.
I have posted a demo video of this bug on Bilibili:
