A zombified piglin somehow entered the AFK chamber of my gold farm, killed me and now the farm is causing insane amounts of lag (0-1 fps) whenever in render distance.

      About the farm

The farm is similar to ilmango's design (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9oteFEj770) but with the ring of spawning blocks replaced with magma blocks, using grindstones instead of anvils and having no iron golems. It was high above the nether roof, with two parallel sorting systems at "ground" level.

      Preceding Events

After just under 45 minutes of AFKing, I opened Minecraft from the taskbar (I had been running it in the background by opening my inventory and Alt-Tabbing away). I was greeted with a death screen saying that I was somehow killed by a Zombified Piglin (henceforth referred to as ziglin). I was able to see one ziglin on my right side. I respawned and quickly returned to the AFK chamber and retrieved most of my items.

      The Bug Manifests

I decided to find out how a ziglin got in (this was a first-time occurrence after many successful AFK sessions) and aggro'd them. Then I started putting a bottom-slabbed roof on the top of the chamber when I noticed an increasing amount of lag.

By the time I placed the last slab I realized the lag was at completely unreasonable amounts (0-2 fps). It was so laggy that I could not move properly so I left the farm by throwing an ender pearl onto the bedrock below. I opened the F3 debug screen pie chart, it was almost entirely blue and showed 96% tick. The bar chart had red bars going so high they looked like they were going off the screen. I then lowered my render distance to 2 chunks, which stopped the lag completely.

It appears that rendering/loading in the farm immediately causes insane lag. The lag starts at farther distances according to how high the render distance is. It is very difficult to get close to the farm to find the issue, even in spectator mode.

I can provide more details on the farm or in general.

What I expected to happen was: I would find myself safe and sound, bathed in gold and xp and there would be no lag.

What actually happened was: I was dead and the game started lagging like crazy whenever I got close to the farm.

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. Build a gold farm identical to mine in every way.
      2. Use it several times for 20-70 minutes at a time.
      3. Wait to suddenly die one day at the hands of a ziglin.
      4. Return to retrieve your items.
      5. Try to put a bottom-slab roof on the AFK chamber.
      6. Lag
