i was in the nether, trying to get to the portal, and something knocked me back pretty good but i couldn't see it. it then knocked me again and i fell off a ledge and into a pit of lava. i could not see the hoglin at all. it was obviously right in front of me because it knocked me backwards, so i know it was invisible. i lost a full set of diamond enchanted armor and tools in the lava and they are all gone now. nether mobs including piglins and hoglins have been pretty glitchy for me anyway, even when the new update officially released and i wasn't using the snapshots anymore. for example, when i looked at a group of piglins or hoglins, their visual appearance/skin didn't look like it was supposed to. parts of their skin was missing and they were unrecognizable except i knew what they were because of their shape. i was using optifine, if that is relevant at all to why it may have glitched.
