While playing in a survival world, I noticed that I was struggling to harvest crops and was constantly being pushed into the water. It turns out that 15⁄16 tall blocks will physically push you into holes that are both adjacent and on the same level as the block.

Basically, even though I thought I would walk normally on the farmland/grass paths/soul sand, my character slid towards the nearest open hole and could barely escape.

Note: This was NOT included in the 1.16 Pre-release 4 update of the game.

      Recreate in survival:
      1. Till/use shovel on grass next to a hole to make farmland/grass path

      2. Walk on the farmland/grass path that is next to the hole

      3. Your character will slide towards the hole, off the block

      Recreate in creative:

      1. Place farmland/grass path next to a hole

      2. Walk on the farmland/grass path that is next to the hole

      3. Your character will slide towards the hole, off the block
