can't break carpets with swords in creative

What i thought would happen was...
i was in creative removing black carpets and i accidently got my diamond sword in the hand and when i hit the carpet it didn't break, not even damage, so like bedrock in survival

What actually happened was...:
see above, it was an accident but not an issue, but the carpet won't break

Steps to Reproduce:
1. place carpet
2. get a sword
3. try breaking it in creative, won't happen
