Pumpkins on ground and pumpkins accepted for trading by villagers remain pumpkins after conversion but pumpkins in chests are converted to carved pumpkins. This is absolutely inconsistent. After the world conversion, I ended up with chests full of carved pumpkins, which are useless to me because I wanted to trade them with villagers! It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to create new pumpkins, while it is very simple and quick to make carved pumpkins out of pumpkins, so it would have been logical to convert old pumpkins to new (universally applicable) pumpkins, not to carved pumpkins, which are good for nothing but Jack o'Lanterns. I am absolutely unhappy with this imprudent decision of Mojang and I really don't understand why Mojang makes players (which, by the way, have paid for the game!) this unhappy with such an unnecessary issue. Is there any rationale behind that? What is the rationale to do the conversion differently in different Minecraft editions (like Bedrock) anyway? Also, can you please give me a tool to fix my world? If I can't fix it easily, I don't believe I will play Minecraft soon again because I am not in the mood to spend hours just to fix an illogical item conversion...
